Typical Day:
Child-Directed Play: The children may choose what they would like to do. Some options may include painting, playdough, sandbox pla
y, puppets, housekeeping area, blocks, toys, games, etc.
Circle Time: Many special activities are presented during this time! Circle incorporates specific pre-kindergarten skills and gives us the opportunity to discuss something from the various units we study (i.e. All About Me. Safety, Living/Non-Living Things, Animals Nutrition and Health, etc.)
Activity Tables: Individual and small group learning takes place at the work tables. We may do an organized art project, work sheets, hands-on math or science experiments, cooking activity, or learning games related to our thematic unit.
Bible Time: We have a Bible story, prayer time, sing songs and recite our Bible verses. We often do a craft to reinforce the concept.
Gym and/or Recess: We play games, do exercises, work on gross motor skills and utilize the playground equipment.
Snack and Conversation: Each week a different child is responsible for bringing a snack to share. This child is also the “helper” for the week.
Music: We incorp
orate singing, rhythms and instruments. We also enjoy learning several new finger plays.
Stories and Language Development: At this time, we read stories and have dramatic play activities. We also present “Show and Tell”.
Extras: These include field trips, special guests, reading buddies with older elementary students and participation in school programs.
